We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our thriving corporate team in Cardiff or London.

We have a large team which is supported by trainees and paralegals and are consistently at the top of Experian's Welsh deal list, ranked tier 1 in the Legal 500. We have been shortlisted for Regional Legal Adviser of the Year at the prestigious Private Equity Awards for the last three years.

Working within the Corporate team

The Corporate team provides a full-service offering and includes transactional experience across M&A and Private Equity. We have a large team, comprising 14 qualified lawyers (supported by trainees and paralegals) that are all dedicated to Corporate transactions. We are consistently towards the top of Experian's Welsh deal list, ranked tier 1 in the Legal 500 and have been shortlisted for Regional Legal Adviser of the Year at the prestigious Private Equity Awards for the last two years.

Our focus is to develop our reputation nationally as a leading Corporate and Private Equity practice - with the ability to handle complex or high-value matters whilst being practical, pragmatic, and cost-effective. We also want to be recognised for our ability to work alongside senior teams of major businesses, and their in-house lawyers. Our clients are generally based in London, but also across the UK and internationally. We have offices in Cardiff and London. We work flexibly and team members work from home and/or from either of our offices.

We're looking for a highly motivated corporate lawyer with recent and relevant experience working on corporate transactions. You will be a strong team player and comfortable working on complex and varied deals.

You'll need

  • 5+ years post-qualification experience
  • extensive experience of a full range of corporate work
  • to understand the importance of client relationships and have experience of creating, or strengthening, client relationships
  • to be technically competent and commercially aware
  • excellent written and oral communication skills, clear written presentation, strong organisational skills, good time management, good initiative, and problem-solving ability
  • to be team-focused with a flexible and collaborative approach to working with others, but also able to work alone
  • a strong client focused approach with plenty of drive and enthusiasm to help us to provide an excellent client service
  • to travel regularly to London and Cardiff to visit clients and colleagues

You will be able to

  • play a key role in building and maintaining client relationships
  • supervise and support the development of junior lawyers
  • work effectively under pressure to tackle tough decisions and present innovative ways to help clients
  • adhere to internal procedures and systems of Capital including file / case management, time recording, WIP management
  • keep up to date with law and practice as part of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • maintain high standards of professional conduct while generating required practice income
