Due to continued success and future business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Group Assistant Accountant to join our Group Finance team based at our Head Office in Chesterfield.

The role of Group Assistant Accountant is to take responsibility for a variety of accounting tasks to support the completion of the monthly Head Office accounts, ensuring that financial information relating to the Group Head Office is accurately actioned, reconciled and analysed on a monthly basis.

The role of Group Assistant Accountant offers an ideal opportunity to join a value adding Group Finance function, becoming part of a dynamic and growing business which offers excellent opportunities for progression and development.

Key duties and requirements

You will also be responsible for but not limited to;

  • Daily and weekly Group cash reporting.
  • Weekly approval of manual payments.
  • Preparation and review of all prepayments and accruals.
  • Preparation and posting of journals.
  • Review and processing of Group recharges.
  • Preparation and consolidation of monthly Head Office credit card statements.
  • Completion of Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Completion of P&L analysis and reconciliations.
  • Preparation of monthly Group VAT return.
  • Maintenance of Head Office Fixed Asset register.
  • Support completion of monthly management accounts and annual audit working papers.
  • Preparation of annual Tax Pack data.
  • Provide cover for the Head Office Management Accountant.
  • Being a visible and active member of the Group Finance Team - working closely with other colleagues and departments.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful as our Group Assistant Accountant, you will be a dynamic and energetic individual who is not only a team player but also possesses the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment of continued change.

The role is best suited to an adaptable and resilient individual, who is able to demonstrate their interest and enthusiasm in forging a career within the financial sector.

Our ideal candidate will be either full or part qualified in either AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA.

You will also possess;

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills with working knowledge of VLookups, Pivot tables etc.
  • A keen eye for detail along with excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Good accounting and financial knowledge, with the desire to continue or commence an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification.
  • Excellent attention to detail along with the ability to take ownership in order to develop within the role.
  • The ability to work independently to deadlines, in particular at month end and year end.
  • A flexible attitude to changing business needs.
