Assistant Finance Manager

Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Manager to join a dynamic team in the facilities management industry. This role will partner with the commercial finance team to provide accurate and timely financial information across the group. The ideal candidate will have strong financial analysis skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing statutory accounts for all group companies and the group consolidation in line with financial reporting standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with business partners and act as a key point of contact for Site & Operations Managers during month-end and year-end reporting.
  • Manage, prepare, and review monthly management accounts.
  • Handle the month-end process, including journal preparation, posting, and review, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and analyzing monthly movements.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of accounts payable, accounts receivable, prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, and other debtors and creditors.
  • Produce weekly and periodic management reports, including detailed budget-to-actual variance analysis, balance sheet, and profit and loss statements.
  • Support Finance Managers with technical accounting issues, including aspects of acquisition accounting.
  • Undertake ad-hoc analysis and projects to support business needs.

Commercial Reporting:

  • Assist Finance Managers in reviewing, challenging, and implementing changes to accounting and management information to provide maximum insight into company profitability.
  • Demonstrate exceptional financial analysis skills.
  • Work with internal stakeholders, including board members, to support budget setting and monitoring, delivering excellent business partnering services.
  • Produce high-quality information, data, and KPIs, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and appropriateness for corporate reporting.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Accountancy qualification/part qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility and fit into the company culture.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work to structured deadlines.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and intermediate Excel skills (Pivot Tables and V-lookups).
  • Resilient and adaptable to change in a growing organization.
  • Team player with the ability to plan and prioritize workload.
  • Capable of identifying problems and making decisions to resolve them.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a similar role within a medium/large company.
