Sitka is delighted to be working exclusively with the inspirational charity City Hospice, in helping them find an experienced and motivated Individual Giving Manager with a proven track record in the field.

City Hospice cares for patients across the city of Cardiff, managing their symptoms and offering essential support. This means each person in their care can live their lives to the fullest for as long as possible. They support patients in their own homes, and some come to their dedicated centre based in Whitchurch, Cardiff.

This role is a newly created one, reporting into a supportive and passionate Fundraising & Marketing Director. As the new IG Manager, you will be joining an experienced and diligent fundraising team, where everyone strives to do the best, they can to help the charity generate the income needed to deliver their essential services.

This is an opportunity to have ownership of the IG strategy and donor management and to develop innovative ways of developing income streams and relationships with key individuals.

The job

  • Develop and deliver the charity's individual giving strategy and achieve agreed targets in supporter recruitment and retention - to include regular giving schemes, one-off donations, online and cash donations, hospice lottery, payroll giving and in memoriam and legacy giving.
  • Prepare individual giving strategy action plans for each area, with the support from the Fundraising & Marketing Director.
  • Foster innovative ways of developing individual giving income streams through appeals
  • Manage and grow an individual supporter pipeline to support City Hospice's work.
  • Ensure outstanding donor management and record keeping for individual donors, as well as pipeline and forecasting.
  • Manage the development and delivery of a strong supporter journey / stewardship strategy for individual supporters.
  • Oversee individual supporter recruitment, including face-to-face and digital channels
  • Identify, with the Fundraising and Marketing Director, major donor prospects and assist in the development of tailored donor engagement plans.
  • Maximise tax efficient giving opportunities, to include promoting Gift Aid.
  • Work closely with the fundraising team to develop and implement a stewardship programme with regular touchpoints.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the fundraising team in the production of fundraising literature, reports (including an annual report), case studies and internal communications.
  • Work with the Marketing Officer to input individual giving into the marketing & communications plan.
  • Ensure that necessary information for individual giving is suitably presented on promotional materials including the website as required.

The person specification

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of individual giving programmes
  • Major donor, payroll and legacy giving knowledge
  • Experience of working with individual donors and of building and developing relationships with supporters
  • Experience of developing and implementing donor stewardship programmes
  • Proven track record of meeting fundraising targets
  • Knowledge of GDPR, particularly with relation to individual giving
  • Good knowledge of budgets and experience of reporting on financial performance
  • Understanding of direct marketing techniques in relation to fundraising is desirable
  • Creative thinker who can articulate compelling and persuasive cases for support to donor prospects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of donor prospect groups
  • Good administrative and organisational skills
  • Adept in working to tight deadlines
  • Office 365 and CRM skills
