Senior Operational Risk Analyst - Oil

City Elite Transaction Services are delighted to be assisting our long-term Client - a globally recognised Energy Trading and Shipping firm - in their search for a Senior Operational Risk Analyst.

Our client is seeking a Senior Operational Risk Analyst to join their Operational Risk department and play an important role in helping build and shape the risk strategy of the company. Candidates will have prior experience from working in a risk, compliance, or internal audit position in a relevant industry e.g., physical oil, shipping, bunkerage. Importantly they will bring subject matter expertise and strong knowledge of risk management frameworks & principles, to help upskill the knowledge of the team and develop the overall awareness and maturity of the company when it comes to effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and enhance operational risk framework across commercial activities
  • Provide risk expertise and best practice guidance to management
  • Lead incident management and investigation processes
  • Develop risk control frameworks and self-assessment programs
  • Maintain business process documentation and drive continuous improvement
  • Prepare and present risk reports for management meetings
  • Collaborate with IT on system development and risk control implementation

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven operational risk experience in physical oil trading or bunkering
  • Strong adaptability and problem-solving skills in complex environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Team leadership experience
  • Knowledge of trading operations and supply chain processes
  • Experience with ETRM systems and process mapping
  • Professional qualification in accounting or risk management preferred (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/FRM/CFA)
