Reed is supporting an established business in Ipswich, who are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join their small, friendly team.

Contract: Permanent, full-time, office based

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8:30-5pm

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Reporting to: Finance Director

Purpose and responsibilities:

The primary aim of the role is to support the Finance Director by supporting a small team to process the monthly accounting records produce the monthly management accounts and the year-end accounts for all the businesses both inside and outside of the group. This secondary role is to work within the team shadowing all individuals to understand their job role and tasks to then reduce bottlenecks, assist covering holidays but also be to assist the business in updating the processes to move the business forward into a new era through information technology. It is intended that you will take over as Finance Director at their point of retirement.

  • Financial Record Processing:

  • Collaborate with a small team to process monthly accounting records.

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Prepare financial statements and reports.

  • Management Reporting:

  • Generate monthly management accounts, analysing financial performance.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial health.

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Process Improvement:

  • Shadow team members to understand their roles and tasks.

  • Identify bottlenecks and propose solutions for streamlining processes.

  • Leverage information technology to enhance efficiency.

  • Succession Planning:

  • Work closely with the Finance Director to learn the intricacies of the role.

  • Prepare to assume the Finance Director position upon their retirement.

Requirements:

  • Experience in an office environment
  • Good with numbers and willingness to learn new skills outside of accounting
  • Communicate with existing staff, learning their roles
  • Communicate with external parties, including auditors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT literacy and Excel skills are imperative
  • Oversee/supervise data entry and record keeping leading to monthly/year-end accounts
  • Multiple business year-end accounts including group accounts
  • A pro-active attitude with exceptional teamwork and able to work alone
  • Strong understanding of tax and accounts
  • Member of professional accounting body
