Lab Analyst /Senior Lab Analyst
Serving Society through Science, Tata Chemicals Europe (TCE) is one of Europes leading producers of sodium carbonate, salt and sodium bicarbonate and other products, from our plants in Cheshire, UK. British Salt has been part of the Tata Chemicals Europe family since 2011.
Established in 1969 British Salt has been manufacturing, storing and supplying salt for over five decades from our Middlewich site and is now the premier supplier of salt within the UK. The Middlewich site is currently undergoing major investment as it builds a new state of the art pharmaceutical grade salt plant to further grow the business.
What will I be doing?
Carrying out chemical testing/ analysis and recording on finished product and in-process samples to ensure products are within specification and compliant with required standards (EP/USP etc.)
Supporting the manufacturing team in the analysis of process streams and intermediate products, and support investigations into out-of-specification (OOS) results, quality related complaints and deviations.
Performing analysis on stability samples and preparing and despatching samples for external testing where required.
Supporting quality activities, including performing internal audits and representing laboratory in regulatory/ customer audits.
Carrying out method development and validation of methods.
Reviewing and updating SOPS, training colleagues and implementation and calibration of lab equipment.
Ensuring laboratory practices, procedures and standards are compliant with requirements of standards, including BRC, FEMAS and ISO 14001, ISO 9001, GMP.
What kind of person are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with high standards of health and safety with a chemistry background and at least 2 years previous analytical experience, who also has:
Completed A levels, a Chemistry qualification or similar
Good levels of computer literacy and able to accurately data input, interpret results and write reports.
Experience and confidence in working with spreadsheets.
Trending of data/statistical knowledge.
Method development experience.
Experience in a food/ chemical / Pharma laboratory.
Competence in GLP/GMP.
A willingness to be flexible in covering all roles in the laboratory area, including across site movement.
Knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety standards.
