About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

Salary: £65,752 - £76,366 and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing, and family .

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

This role is part of our Asset Data & Insights agile value stream, which aims to unlock significant value through the engineering and analysis of data to optimize efficiencies from our portfolio of gas-fired power stations, gas storage facilities, and to support the introduction of Hydrogen and Carbon Capture and Storage. As Lead DevOps Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with Product Owners and technical colleagues within our Asset Data & Insights value stream and across IT to organize and deliver the backlog of development work related to our product portfolio.
  • Lead a team of data, DevOps, and visualisation engineers.
  • Define and maintain technical standards and quality for the CI/CD pipelines associated with the product portfolio.
  • Assume technical responsibility for DevOps and ITIL processes related to the development and operation of the Asset Data & Insights portfolio.
  • Work as part of the wider Thermal IT Support team, providing technical support including out-of-hours support for P1 Incidents.
  • Foster a culture of innovation by promoting the exploration of new technologies and processes and challenging the status quo.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms aligned with FinOps and scrum practices for scalable and resilient solution deployment, with knowledge of DevOps practices for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), preferably Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of advanced data analysis techniques through AI and machine learning, and full-stack development technologies such as YAML, React and Python.
  • Experience deploying, scaling, and managing automation and orchestration technologies including Power Automate and UIPath.
  • Proficiency in data architectures leveraging technologies such as Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, Databricks, SQL and Oracle DB.
  • Creative thinking and a proactive approach to identifying innovative solutions for complex technical challenges.
