Furnace Operative
Duration: Temporary-Permanent
Shifts:
- Core hours are 7:30AM - 4:30PM Monday to Thursday and 7:30AM - 1:30PM Friday.
- Shift work will be required to cover handover periods, nights and weekends.
- Morning Handover Shift - 6:00AM - 15:00PM
- Afternoon Handover Shift - 9:30AM - 6:30PM
Pay: £12-12.50p/h for day shifts
Location: Halifax, HX1
Duties:
- Preparing materials of metal
- Loading/Jig up components for heat treatments
- Unloading/De-jigging metal ready for quenching
- Working in hot environments
- Manual handling of metal
- Preparing jobs for dispatch - removing paint/marks on customers' orders
- Packing finished goods safely for transport
- General warehouse housekeeping duties, cleaning and tidying
- Scanning in completed orders and paperwork
- Health and safety awareness
- Operating overhead cranes - training will be provided
- Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the production manager
Skills:
- Heat treatment experience is an advantage, but not essential.
- Experienced operating overhead cranes is an advantage, but not essential.
- Great attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Must be flexible to work different shifts
- Willingness to learn and train
- Good time keeping and strong work ethic
- Physically able to manual hand metal
- Basic computer skills
