Teaching Assistants (2:1 Support)

  • Salary: £80 - £120 per day, dependent on experience

We are looking for two compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistants to provide tailored 2:1 support to a 19-year-old pupil with severe learning difficulties, ADHD, and autism. This role is a unique opportunity to work outside of a traditional classroom setting and requires individuals who can adapt to the educational needs of a pupil working at the developmental level of a 4-year-old. Candidates with extensive SEND experience and a care background are highly desirable.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide dedicated 2:1 support to the pupil, focusing on their individual learning and development.
  • Utilise the Ruth Miskin literacy scheme to assist with reading and writing skills.
  • Engage the pupil with activities that are tailored to their abilities and learning needs.
  • Manage challenging behaviours with patience and a supportive approach.
  • Perform personal care tasks with respect and sensitivity.
  • Collaborate with another Teaching Assistant to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Monitor the pupil's progress and adapt learning strategies as needed.
  • Embrace opportunities for overtime to provide additional support.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in supporting individuals with severe learning difficulties, ADHD, and autism.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to train in the Ruth Miskin literacy scheme.
  • Competence in performing personal care tasks with dignity.
  • A strong understanding of the educational and care needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting individuals with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A background in care or a related field is highly desirable.
