We're seeking a talented Assistant Category Manager to join our client's dynamic team. In this role, you'll provide essential support to Category Managers, handling administrative tasks and key lower-level procurement activities.

Details:

Job Title: Assistant Category Manager

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 DOE

Location: Oxford (2 office-based days a week) relocating to Aylesbury in 2026

Contract type: 12-month FTC, full time

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Category Managers with obtaining documentation to undertake evaluations and contract negotiations
  • Work alongside Category Managers to help manage supplier performance effectively
  • Provide assistance to internal stakeholders, addressing procurement queries and ensuring policy compliance
  • Support with occasional project work

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience of key procurement activities including supplier selection processes
  • Awareness of supply risks and supply risk management
  • Commercial acumen related to purchasing and costing including some knowledge of commercial contracts
  • Experience of working with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • High levels of self-organisation and good attention to detail
  • A full UK driving licence and access to own transport
