The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys working in a hands-on environment. The work will primarily involve maintaining the grounds of various government facilities, including but not limited to parks, cemeteries, and council buildings. This means keeping facilities free from litter, ensuring that changing rooms and toilets are cleaned and in good condition, and carrying out general maintenance and DIY tasks as needed.
As a Grounds Maintenance Worker, you will need to be physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions. This is an essential aspect of the job, as the work can be physically demanding at times. If you are someone who enjoys being outdoors and is not afraid of a little hard work, then this could be the perfect job for you.
Some of the key responsibilities:-
- Grass Mowing
- Watering / weeding / tending flower displays
- Inspection of play areas/pitches for any health and safety issues
- Locking and unlocking of buildings
- Basic building maintenance , repairs and decorating
- Maintaining a weekly record of areas covered, cleaning carried out, problem areas found and hours worked
- Grounds and other maintenance works in the cemetery and occasional liaising with funeral directors and families during interments.
We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, depending on the needs of the project. Excellent communication skills are also essential, as you will be required to liaise with other members of the team as well as clients.
