Trust & Estate Manager

My client is searching for a Trust & Estate Manager to join their team based in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Trusts

  • Preparation of trust accounts, tax returns and IHT forms where we are trustees and for trust clients of the firm
  • Dealing with trust administration, such as TRS and CRS, for both trusts that we are trustees for and also where we are the primary contact on behalf of the trustees
  • Reviewing trust tax returns and accounts prepared by others and providing feedback and training.

Estates

Assisting with estates, reporting to the TESS Partner as Head of Legal Practice (HOLP) when required, to include:

  • Assisting with estate administration estate files
  • Preparation of accounts, tax returns and IHT forms (where required) and legal statements and other related documents
  • Communication with executors, beneficiaries and third parties as required during the administration.

Private client tax

  • Preparation of personal Self-Assessment Tax Returns
  • Reviewing personal tax returns prepared by others and providing feedback and training
  • Supporting the TESS Partner with technical tax research, drafting reports and letters of tax advice.

Work for other professionals

  • Preparation of accounts (estate and trust accounts) and tax returns (pre-death, estate and trust returns) for other professionals, such as solicitors.
  • Providing advice and assistance as required, such as in relation to TRS obligations and registration and preparation of tax forms and computations.

Further information

  • Dealing with internal technical queries for Partners and Managers, in relation to estates and trusts
  • Assisting with training of junior members of the team
  • Maintaining and updating workflow for own portfolio
  • Monthly review of WIP to ensure regular billing on all aspects of client portfolio
  • Maintaining CPD and technical knowledge in all relevant technical areas

Hours: Preferably full time (38.75 hours per week), but we would consider 31 hours+ per week
