Additional Learning Support - Higher needs Funding Officer Part-time

Description

Working in the College's Additional Learning Support Department, this post plays a key role in the collection and analysis of additional learning support data and in the setting up and monitoring of tracking systems to ensure there is available evidence for the ALS claim. The role involves collating information and reports relating to High Needs Learners to the the ALS management. The role involves working closely with the ALS teams to ensure the ALS claim is maximised and that all opportunities are explored and efforts made to increase claim values in line with audit guidance and principles. This post plays a key role in preparing funding claims in an efficient and timely manner in line with internal and external deadlines and supporting ALS processes such as Assessments, Exam Access Arrangements, planning and delivery of support. Knowledge of and experience of working with specialist databases is required, to support the College's ALS claim and the planning of support and funding applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and to play an appropriate part in their implementation (e.g., supporting exams in the capacity of invigilators, prompters, readers/scribes)
  • Evaluate and improve own communication skills to maximise effective communication and overcome barriers
  • To liaise with line manager in contributing to the administration necessary to support the business needs of the Department and the College

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:

  • Educated to Level 2 including English and Maths
  • Excellent computer literacy – Evidence of undertaking training on MIS systems and/or other databases
  • Engaged in Continuing Professional Development
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of training and development in the area of ALS funding and regulations
  • Excellent customer service skills

Desirable:

  • A Level 3 or Level 4 qualification or above
  • Knowledge and understanding of disabilities and/or learning difficulties
  • Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and for themselves
  • A good understanding of Quality Assurance in the funding context
