Senior Financial Accountant - EMEA

THE GIG

Working in a fast-paced team for the Financial Accounting Manager - EMEA, the Senior Financial Accountant - EMEA will be expected to own and maintain the general ledger for EMEA entities alongside their existing counterpart. Predominantly a technical role with management responsibilities, the primary function within the role is the production of monthly management accounts in accordance with the Group reporting timetable. As our Senior Financial Accountant - EMEA, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the General Ledger for Continental European (CE) entities ensuring all applicable internal controls and policies are adhered to.
  • Managing and developing the team, ensuring collaboration and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring EMEA results/closing balances are reported in accordance with Group and statutory accounting requirements.
  • Reviewing the transfer pricing adjustments at month end; ensuring that these are invoiced at appropriate intervals.
  • Assisting with the implementation, maintenance and improvement of robust month end processes and internal controls to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business.
  • Preparing, supporting, and reviewing year-end local statutory accounts.
  • Liaising with the Payroll team (& third-party providers where necessary) to ensure that all relevant payroll taxes are paid on time, the payroll posting and associated monthly reporting are accurate and any anomalies are followed up promptly.
  • Coordinating month end tasks, to ensure all entities can meet the respective group period end deadlines.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations, filing to a high standard in line with internal deadlines.
  • Being a key contact for the interim and year end audit process, with preparation of information for external auditors; including explaining and reviewing information.
  • Key liaison on tax related matters; liaising directly with the Head of Tax.
  • Analysing and explaining key project matters, user acceptance testing results and key process improvement considerations directly to the Group Financial Controller, Head of Finance - EMEA, Finance Director - EMEA and Director of Finance Control.
  • Promoting a culture of best practice across EMEA, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Striving to create efficiencies in the day to day working practices of staff, to reduce time spent on simple repetitive tasks and share improved ways of working.
  • Provide cover and assistance to the wider finance team and assist in any other ad hoc projects as required, including exploring better ways of working with the EMEA Finance team.
  • Provide cover for the Financial Accounting Manager- EMEA

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

Put simply, for this role the key things we're looking for are:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification in either ACA or ACCA.
  • People management skills – experience of coaching/mentoring and managing teams.
  • The ability to communicate across all areas of the business including financial and non-financial colleagues.
  • Strong investigatory, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience working to strict deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to work and a desire to streamline processes to increase productivity and efficiencies across EMEA.
  • Advanced excel skills and ability to use PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience with D365 (Microsoft Dynamics) desirable but not essential
