Optalis Ltd is a Local Authority Trading Company owned by and delivering Adult Social Care on behalf of Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) and the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead (RBWM).

Head of Finance, Wokingham £65-75k Permanent Full Time

The Head of Finance works collaboratively with both councils to ensure that financial transparency, full compliance and reliable forward planning continue to underpin the existing strong relationships between all parties.

As part of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Head of Finance provides high quality leadership for the Finance and Compliance aspects of the Company. With an operating budget of £25m pa our Provider Services team of 700 people deliver a broad range of adult social care services to more than 2,000 customers with a variety of needs in the community, in specialist accommodation and in their own homes.

WBC and RBWM have ambitious plans for Optalis and we are planning for growth as a provider of choice for both Councils.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer,the purpose of the role is to lead and manage the day-to-day operational Finance function by:

  • Working collaboratively with both councils to ensure that all stakeholders have confidence in the financial operations of the company.
  • Ensuring that a high standard of financial processes and procedures is maintained, including all compliance and reporting matters.
  • Providing pro-active financial advice, modelling and commercial support,with a focus on Optalis' growth and transformation agendas.
  • Managing the finance team of 5 people - with 2 direct reports.
