Permanent vacancy - Moulding Tool Setter
Salary - Competitive Depending on experience
Location - Johnstone
Working hours - Monday - Thursday 8am-4.30pm and Friday 8am-3.30pm (39 working week)

Overall purpose of the job

  • Carry out tool changes using Standard Operating Procedures, process and product specification sheets to ensure the safest and most consistent method is followed to guarantee product quality
  • Monitor process parameters to ensure all products are running within pre-defined tolerances including but not limited to, cycle time, cooling time, weight, tool heats, barrel heats
  • Contribute to quality planning activities such as tooling design, introduction and optimisation

3. Duties & Objectives

  • Ensure all work activities are carried out safely, reporting any hazards or near misses to your supervisor
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in your work environment, reporting any possible improvements to supervisor/manager
  • Carry out first off inspection to validate effectiveness of tool change
  • Record all process settings used in tool change to ensure they are within tolerance
  • Highlight any material, tooling or machine issues preventing product running within tolerance to tool setter supervisor
  • Optimise tool performance through controlled and authorised continuous improvement activities, ensuring all changes are reflected in SOP's, product and process specification documentation
  • Setting tools for production
  • Insert changes/Readying tools for production
  • Organise materials required to work efficiently
  • Start up and shut down machines when asked to do so, ensuring appropriate quality checks are complete before handing over to production
  • Organise and set up work areas for specific jobs
  • Assist other tool setters when required
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as defined by supervision or management to ensure the effective operation of the business

Responsibilities

  • Optimising machines and tools and reporting to supervisor where improvements can be made to enhance production
  • Responsible for personal and general factory health and safety in line with the company health and safety policy outlined in the Company handbook

At least 2 years working in a plastics moulding role
