EHCP Lead

The Education, Health and Care Plans Lead will oversee Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and ensure Westminster Kingsway College (WKC) meets its statutory obligations under the Children and Families Act 2014.

About the role:

  • Develop partnerships with Local Authorities, Voluntary Organisations, Employers, and Third Sector organisations to support Preparation for Adulthood outcomes for young people aged 19-25.
  • Manage arrangements for transitions for students with EHCPs, focusing on Post-16 and Post-22 transitions.
  • Build positive relationships with parents to alleviate anxiety and develop solutions to meet young people's needs.
  • Oversee and ensure timely completion of all EHCP annual reviews and related paperwork.
  • Develop and implement processes for handling Local Authority requests, consultations, and placement provisions.

About you:

Requires knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, EHCPs, funding methodologies, the needs of young people with SEN, and the Local Offer. Must have experience working with SEN learners, implementing processes for EHCP-related requests, preparing evidence for SEN Tribunal cases, and managing transitions for students with EHCPs. Must understand the challenges facing young people with SEN in an inner-city setting, have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong administrative and IT skills, and the ability to plan and monitor workload to meet deadlines. Should work effectively as a team member and independently, have a flexible working approach, and be able to liaise with external agencies, parents, and carers.
