Join our team as a Payroll Specialist, where you will be responsible for providing a timely, accurate, and efficient payroll service for our clients. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in payroll management, looking for a dynamic and challenging environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Process payroll amendments including starters, leavers, contract changes, tax code changes, and earnings arrestment's.
  • Collate and input payroll data such as timesheets and expense claims.
  • Prepare and apply calculations for maternity and paternity leave, along with other statutory payments and deductions.
  • Handle transactions related to salary sacrifice schemes, including childcare.
  • Process annual cost of living and incremental pay increases.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure the integrity of the payroll database.
  • Process payments to employees, HMRC, pension providers, and other external bodies.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and annual pension uploads and returns to HMRC.
  • Address enquiries from employees, management, and external contacts via phone, email, or in person.
  • Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive guidance notes on payroll procedures.
  • Collaborate with the IT team on payroll system upgrades and developments, ensuring thorough testing before live implementation.
  • Maintain robust audit records and work with auditors as required.
  • Provide reports and management information for clients, such as Gross to Net reports on employee costs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A recognised payroll or accountancy qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Recent experience managing a large computerised payroll.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll systems, taxation, national insurance, and pensions administration.
  • Highly numerate with the ability to process a variety of standard calculations accurately.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in databases, and advanced skills in Word and Excel.
