Randstad is partnered exclusively with the Empower Learning Academy Trust for all recruitment needs. We are currently recruiting for a Head of History to join the school overseeing the History department.

The Head of Department is responsible for the professional leadership of the department, the planned
and strategic development of the department in accordance with the objectives of the academy
improvement plans and the quality of provision, teaching and learning and pupil outcomes at KS3 and
GCSE level.

The trust's mission is to 'inspire learners and change lives' - and that includes their staff. They want to empower their teams so pupils are ready to be kind, confident and impactful world citizens.

Responsibilities include:

  • The ability to lead curriculum development and innovation
  • The ability to lead, model and manage positive behaviour, good order and assertive discipline in the department
  • The ability to lead the department team effectively and efficiently and work with other professionals and external agencies
  • Good communication skills, oral, written and presentations
  • The ability to relate to and communicate effectively with parents and carers and to encourage their active participation in the educational process
  • Create a well organised, stimulating learning environment

To be successful you will have:

  • Proven experience of teaching History and delivering excellent results
  • Experience of teaching across both KS3 and KS4 either on teaching practice or your current post
  • QTS and relevant UK teaching qualifications and experience
  • Availability to start in September 2024
