European Road Freight Coordinator

This permanent role is integral to ensuring the seamless and profitable transportation of goods throughout Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the export/import processes for road freight shipments

  • Planning and coordinating transport routes and daily schedules for the European fleet, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability

  • Arranging customer collections, packing services, and deliveries

  • Collaborating with customers and office staff to plan routes, schedule delivery times, and coordinate drivers and vehicles

  • Coordinating with customs for clearance and managing customs entry exceptions

  • Overseeing EU airfreight (e.g., DHL) and EU road courier shipments

  • Addressing and resolving client/supplier issues and complaints

  • Coordinating all aspects of shipping fine art and antiques, including:

  • Assessing client needs and liaising with overseas agents, private collectors, galleries, auction houses, artists, and transport companies

  • Guiding clients through the shipping process

  • Quoting and coordinating both domestic and international shipments

  • Arranging customer collections and specialist packing services

  • Preparing and processing all necessary documentation

  • Handling paperwork, including customs clearance and advising customers on required payments

  • Ensuring timely invoice production

  • Preparing operational reports and maintaining comprehensive records

  • Conducting cost analysis and reporting on jobs and European truck runs

  • Communicating with the sales and operations team throughout the day

  • Providing administrative assistance to the sales team as needed

  • Offering support across the business when required

  • Attending regular team meetings

Key Attributes:

  • Proven track record and knowledge of domestic and European transport operations and planning
  • Good knowledge of current EU transport legislation
  • Strong geographical knowledge
  • In-depth understanding of current EU customs procedures and paperwork requirements
  • Experience dealing with high-end clients and goods
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Discreet and trustworthy with strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible approach to work and able to manage priorities
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Commercially focused, considering end-to-end costs
