Salary: £30,000.00 - £44,870.00
Hours: 40 hours per week

Role Purpose: The primary responsibility of the English Teacher is to deliver high-quality education to students with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs. The focus is on enhancing academic and vocational qualifications, fostering independent living skills, and preparing students for their next steps, whether in further education, training, or employment. The role also involves teaching a second subject.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the curriculum development, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
  • Collaborate with staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Utilize short-, medium-, and long-term plans in curriculum delivery.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalized learning targets.
  • Participate in the review of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
  • Provide structured lessons with clear objectives, maintaining engagement and challenge.
  • Assist in curriculum development and stay updated on autism-related educational strategies.
  • Manage a delegated budget as required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Essential: PGCE, QTS, or QTLS teaching qualification with evidence of in-service training.
  • Ability to teach Entry level 2 & 3, Functional Skills Level 1 & 2, and GCSEs in English and one other subject.
  • Desirable: Experience in a school environment, preferably in specialist education.
  • Strong teamwork skills within a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in planning, preparation, recording, and reviewing student progress.
  • Good IT skills to support learning.
  • Ability to remain calm and reflective in challenging situations.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, and capable of prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish positive and enabling relationships with students.
