Support Worker / Days and Night Shifts / Sleep Overs

Support Worker that is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young people and who has empathy, patience, and dedication to provide exceptional support is required for an organisation that provides high-quality supported accommodation for young people between the age of 16 to 25 on their pathway to independence.

NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - FULL TRAINING PROVIDED

If you've worked supporting young people before, then great. If not, the organisation will provide full training. However, you must be flexible to work shifts.

SALARY: £12 per hour (rising to £13 per hour after 12 months) + £50 per Sleep Over / Night Shift + Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Bury, Greater Manchester, North West England (BL9)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time and Part-Time, Permanent Positions Available

WORKING HOURS: Hours will vary between 20 - 37 hours per week over a rolling rota.You will need to be available to work both day and night shifts / sleep overs.

Day Shifts between the hours: 9am - 11pm

Night Shifts / Sleep Overs between the hours: 11pm - 9am

In this role you are required to complete 'sleep over' shifts. This means that you are required to be on the premises as rostered and cannot leave the premises at any time. You will be provided with a bed and expected to sleep unless you are woken. Whilst you are sleeping you are not working and therefore the company will commit to pay you £50 per night for each sleep-in duty. You will be paid your normal hourly rate for each hour that you are woken to complete a work duty.

As the Support Worker your responsibilities will include offering emotional support, assisting with daily activities and helping them to develop independent living skills, support them to access educational and recreational activities and fostering a safe and nurturing environment.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Support Worker include:

  • Provide holistic support to young people in accordance with their personalised care plans
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment to promote personal development and independent living skills
  • Maintain a safe and secure living space for young residents, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively
  • Offer emotional support, guidance, and practical assistance to residents in various aspects of their daily lives
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to ensure comprehensive care and support for each individual
  • Undertake all training as required for the role

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a similar support role or a relevant background in social care or youth work is desirable, although not essential as full training will be provided
  • A compassionate, empathetic and non-judgemental approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to form positive relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including days, nights, sleep-ins and weekends
