SEN Teaching Assistant

TimePlan Education are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support with an individual with autism, pre-verbal communication, learning difficulties, epilepsy, and sensory processing disorder. The role involves providing repetition and support to help them engage in learning various subjects, including English and Maths, using the READ WRITE INC program. Your goal will be to boost their confidence and self-esteem, supporting all areas of their development and well-being. This position requires someone who is fully committed, engaging, and passionate.

The role will involve home visits and is a part-time role, supporting the individual for 5 days a week, four hours a day 1pm-5pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in learning and development across subjects such as English and Maths.
  • Foster confidence and self-esteem through engaging and supportive teaching methods.
  • Support the student's social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Utilise multi-sensory approaches to deliver a highly-differentiated and motivating curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in developing meaningful, trusting, and respectful relationships with students with learning difficulties and SEN.
  • Experience supporting students with memory and processing difficulties, autism, and anxiety.
  • Experience with strategies such as Play Therapy to manage well-being and anxiety.
  • Experience working with students who have epilepsy.
  • Experience supporting the social and emotional well-being of children
  • At least four years' experience developing children's independence and life skills.
  • Experience helping children regulate their feelings and emotions, possibly through play.
