Salary - £32,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Hours - 40 per week. Typically, Monday-Friday, however due to nature of this job flexibility is needed

Location - London Borough of Havering, between two sites:

As a Communication, Education, Outreach Officer you will play a key role in raising awareness within the London Borough of Havering about the importance of sustainable waste management. You will promote the 'reduce, reuse, recycle' principles through community engagement, educational initiatives, and targeted campaigns.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop a strong understanding of local services and assist in addressing recycling and waste-related queries.
  • Analyse data and present accurate reports to the local Council.
  • Input and communicate KPI data effectively.
  • Manage the annual Community Benefit Plan to ensure social value and community benefits are achieved.
  • Promote and publicise our services within the local community, including resident groups, businesses, and interested parties in Havering.
  • Support the Council in launching targeted waste reduction, recycling contamination, and clean street campaigns.
  • Assist in the development of news articles and social media content related to environmental services.
  • Organise and deliver waste education lessons at roadshows, local schools, and community events.
  • Produce reports and documents for internal, client, and public review.
  • Represent us at Council presentations and discussions regarding contract services and performance.
  • Assist the Council in reviewing potential service improvements related to reuse and recycling initiatives.

What are we looking for?

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with voluntary groups, charitable organisations, or the education sector.
  • Strong knowledge of the local area, schools, and communities.
  • Experience in planning or delivering educational engagement projects.
  • High level of adaptability and flexibility.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated with strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Strong written and verbal English skills with good numerical reasoning.
  • A keen interest in sustainability, innovation, and environmental services.
