We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our Finance Department at our head office in Bristol. This hands-on role involves working closely with the Management Accountant and Accounts Assistant to reduce overdue debt and extend into month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations. The ideal candidate will be adept at using Sage Line 50, CRM Dynamics, and MS Office for reporting requirements and will be comfortable liaising across departments to resolve customer invoice disputes.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Process banking daily, posting all cheques, cash, and credit/debit card payments.
  • Take full responsibility for all aspects of Credit Control, maximising cash flow by ensuring payments are collected in line with payment terms, producing payment reminder letters, and taking legal action when necessary.
  • Work closely with Operational Managers to ensure all queries/disputes are resolved promptly.
  • Assist other departments with creating sales invoices and contractor claims.
  • Provide weekly reports on customer contact, highlighting queries/disputes and outstanding actions.
  • Perform other ad-hoc accounting duties as required by the Finance Controller.
  • Comply with the Company Health and Safety, Quality, and Environment Policies at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a debt collecting role.
  • Comfortable with speaking to a variety of customers on the phone and resolving issues.
  • Friendly, flexible attitude with the ability to work under pressure to meet targets.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and a willingness to support a small finance team.
  • Experience with Microsoft products and proficiency with accounting systems.
