Operations Manager

A specialist manufacturer has developed a brand new Operations Manager position to work with the senior leadership team and facilitate a process improvement plan. This is an autonomous, varied role which will incorporate cross functional collaboration and allow you to drive sustainable change in this business.

Client Details

A growing business is looking to drive improvements across their site in the Wolverhampton area, aiming to get the most from their processes, people and equipment. As the Operations Manager, you will have a broad remit, leading the production and logistics departments as well as overseeing members of the commercial team.

Description

This is a key role in the business that will allow you to develop and drive process and operational improvements in order to deliver best possible capacity, capability and costings. A big part of this role will be ensuring the business adopts a LEAN approach across the operation, developing the best practice culture and driving efficiency and safety.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To lead, manage and direct the Operations team, to ensure the efficient manufacturing operation and a continuous improvement environment
  • Manage and maintain the company's strategic objectives, budgets and KPIs
  • Support the senior leadership team in creating a collaborative, target driven working environment
  • Work with the Production, Warehousing and commercial teams to ensure best use of resources and support, best practice sharing in order to deliver quality products in line with customer expectations
  • Identify improvement an investment opportunities in line with the business' growth goals
  • Determine KPIs for the site and measure them and support first line management in driving them
  • Ensure a proactive approach to HSE related issues to deliver continuous improvement of occupational and process safety
  • Implement an effective process improvement progamme and manage projects to improve efficiency, capability, product conversion costs and asset longevity
  • Support with ensuring that regular reviews of risk assessments / Safe Systems of Work for all activities and work equipment are undertaken
  • Use methods such as LEAN to reduce overall costs of production and levels of waste, whilst increasing OTIF and meeting all quality criteria
  • Identify CAPEX and investment opportunities and support project implementation
  • Create an environment of employee engagement, training and succession to create a high performance, motivated work culture and continuous improvement environment
  • Build a collaborative workforce and work effectively cross-functionally

Profile

This is a great opportunity for an Operation/Manufacturing Manager with manufacturing experience to shape the culture of a growing manufacturing site. The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience managing a cross functional/multi-discipline team
  • Proven experience leading an operation through a period of growth & supporting expansion plan
  • Proven Continuous Improvement knowledge
  • HSE training/understanding
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to coach and develop a team to deliver their maximum potential
  • Practical/proactive problem solver
