Join our Education and Skills team at one of the UK's largest providers of skills and training. We are seeking a dedicated Maths and English Tutor to plan, deliver, and assess effective Functional Skills and GCSE lessons. This role is crucial in maximising learner progress and achievement, helping individuals develop their skills across a diverse range of sectors.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments in line with company policy to inform effective learning programmes.
- Personalise learning experiences based on assessment outcomes and individual needs.
- Adopt inclusive teaching strategies to support and challenge all learners, including those with SEND, challenging behaviours, or other personal and social difficulties.
- Manage learner behaviour and classroom climate to ensure a secure and positive learning environment.
- Assess learners' work in accordance with company policy, providing diagnostic and personalised feedback to drive progress towards examinations.
- Track and monitor the progress of individuals and groups to ensure rapid and sustained improvement from prior attainment.
- Identify learners at risk of underachievement and collaborate with colleagues for prompt and effective intervention.
- Contribute to the development of the Maths and English team by collaborating on resources, schemes of work, and pedagogy.
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across various centres to groups of differing sizes and profiles.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience teaching Functional Skills and GCSE in challenging environments.
- Relevant teaching qualifications QTS, PTLLS etc
- Proven ability to plan, teach, and assess for progress.
- Relevant subject-specific and teaching qualifications.
- Ability to engage and motivate disengaged learners with inclusive, engaging lesson plans.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Commitment to improving the prospects of young people and adult learners.
- Recent experience in successfully teaching 'hard to reach' learners.
- Flexibility to travel and work across multiple sites as needed.
