Position: Interim Head of Facilities Management and Capital Projects (with Corporate Health & Safety, Emergency Planning, and Business Continuity)

Purpose of the Role:

As the Interim Head of Facilities Management and Capital Projects, you will lead the strategic direction and governance for the delivery of facilities building management (FM) and capital projects. This role also encompasses corporate health and safety (CH&S), emergency planning, and business continuity for the organisation and its partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategies for FM operations, capital projects, and corporate health and safety.
  • Governance: Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements related to property and facilities management.
  • Capital Projects: Oversee the planning and delivery of major capital projects, including educational institutions, corporate properties, and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Health & Safety: Lead the development and execution of health and safety policies and emergency planning strategies.
  • Asset Management: Ensure the organisation's property assets are maintained, inspected, and utilised effectively.
  • Budget Management: Manage revenue and capital budgets to support organisational priorities and deliver value for money.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with senior managers and external partners to drive continuous improvement in service delivery.

Skills & Experience:

  • Educational Background: Degree in Facilities Management or a related field. Professional accreditation (CIWFM) and Project Management qualifications (PRINCE 2) are desirable.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in facilities management, property asset management, and capital project delivery.
  • Public Sector Knowledge: Significant experience in local or central government or other major public sector organisations.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading complex projects and teams, with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Health & Safety: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and emergency planning requirements.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in budget management and financial oversight.
