Design Engineer

Location - Gillingham, Kent

Salary - Highly competitive based on experience

Full-time 37hrs per week

We have an exciting opportunity in Gillingham for a Design Engineer to work for one of our clients.

In this role, you will be working full-time.

Shifts are

  • Monday to Thursday 8 am to 4.30 pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
  • Friday 8 am till 1 pm (no break)

Responsibilities for the role of Design Engineer

  • Prepare product designs to meet internal and customer requirements,
  • Select appropriate material
  • Create and maintain Mechanical DFMEA
  • Apply BOD, BOP and defined engineering standards procedures and methodologies to execute project activities
  • Release design documentation in the company system
  • Support Validation teams during the Design Validation and Process Validation phases
  • Support Manufacturing Development teams located in the Manufacturing Plants
  • Prepare reports, technical presentations and status for internal and customer use
  • Ensure reports and presentations include clear analysis and summaries for decision-making
  • Define, prioritise and execute tasks required to meet project objectives (cost, quality and timing)
  • Apply problem-solving in the execution of project activities
  • Maintain and update BOD guidelines
  • Ensure that designs meet cost targets, manufacturability requirements and EOL recycling targets
  • Escalate risks and issues to core team members and management promptly

Skills and Experience required for the role of Design Engineer

  • Must have analytical ability and attention to detail
  • The candidate must have experience with DFMEA
  • Must hold previous experience with effective problem-solving methodologies
  • The candidate must be competent to a good degree in software tools: MS Office, CAD programs (NX, SolidWorks), Simulation tools (ANSYS Stress and Thermal analysis)
  • Must have excellent skills in communication, Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Ideally a team player, who is comfortable operating in a global cross-functional team and selfless in pursuit of the best outcome for the company
  • Ability to work to deadlines when required.
