Exciting Opportunity for a Data Protection and Freedom of Information Adviser!

Are you passionate about information rights? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment? Our client, a renowned organisation committed to continuous improvement, is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join their team as a Data Protection and Freedom of Information Adviser.

Start ASAP, duration four months with a possible extension, pay £175 per day, this is a hybrid working role, full time working Mon-Fri 35 hours a week. You will be put through a stringent vetting process prior to starting. The location of the client is Canary Wharf.

As a Data Protection and Freedom of Information Adviser, you will be responsible for handling individual requests promptly and sensitively. You'll need to have a strong understanding of the legislation surrounding information rights, particularly the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Data Protection Act (DPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You will play a vital role in processing sensitive access requests and ensuring compliance with these regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear and timely responses to customer inquiries regarding information requests
  • Collaborate with colleagues to handle complex or sensitive requests, ensuring the appropriate response is provided
  • Stay up to date with industry best practises and use this knowledge to improve information rights processes
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including external organisations such as the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
  • Take ownership of your own workload, prioritising and organising tasks effectively to meet service standards and deadlines
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery and identify areas for enhancement
  • Handle confidential and personal data with discretion and sensitivity

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in information rights, with a solid understanding of FOIA and DPA/GDPR regulations
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and addressing complex or ambiguous questions
  • Clear and concise written communication skills, adaptable to different audiences
  • Effective stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing at all levels
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy while maintaining a holistic view
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
