Operations Manager - School

This visionary, maintained Secondary School in East London, is seeking a highly knowledgeable Operations Manager to lead on all aspects of maintenance and site management.

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Resources, with a dotted line to the Head, the Operations Manager's key responsibilities are to:

  • Take full responsibility for all Health & Safety related policies
  • To implement a systematic plan to ensure all major risks are covered
  • Ensure the smooth-running functions of the school site and its buildings on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the management of the relationship between the school and the PFI provider on all matters relating to the upkeep and maintenance of the school premises, repairs, lettings, variations and building works, cleaning and maintenance of buildings, monitoring standards.
  • Liaise with the local authority relating to PFI and ensure that service standards are met.
  • Liaise with external contractors, plan work schedules and supervise their work where appropriate.
  • Assist in ensuring that the maximum level of security of the school's premises is consistent with safeguarding legislation.
  • To update and maintain the school's asset management records and ensure all school equipment operates to a good standard.
  • To lead on all aspects of Health & Safety ensuring the school premises are safe and secure at all times.

The successful Operations Manager will be educated to GCSE level standard. You will be conversant on PFI contracts within education and understand the relationships with third party stakeholders and the terminology relating to PFI contracts. This is critical and essential to this role.

On a personal note, the Operations Manager will be a proactive, results driven Manager, who will influence upwards and can bring solutions quickly and effectively.

Hours: 8.00am - 4.00pm, 35-hour working week, all year through role.
