Testing & Inspection Electrician

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical testing, inspection, and certification of installations in compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations).
  • Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems, including distribution boards, wiring, and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, ensuring timely and effective repairs. • Carry out periodic inspection and testing of existing installations to ensure ongoing compliance and safety.
  • Prepare detailed reports, including electrical installation condition reports (EICRs), highlighting any defects or non-compliances.
  • Verify the integrity and safety of new electrical installations before energising.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and project teams to ensure the smooth completion of projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest safety standards, following company policies and health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including test results and inspection reports.
  • Provide technical advice and support to clients and colleagues as needed.

Qualifications & Skills: Essential:

  • Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent).
  • EUSR SHEA Power card or CSCS Equivalent
  • Extensive experience in electrical testing and inspection.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical regulations and standards.
  • Ability to interpret and understand electrical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Valid driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience with a variety of testing equipment and tools.
  • Familiarity with both commercial and residential electrical systems.
  • Certification in health and safety practices (e.g., ECS card).
  • Experience within the power distribution sector advantageous
