IFRS17 Technical Accounting Expert

I am working with a Ministerial Department in Central London who are looking for an experienced IFRS17 Technical Accounting Expert for 12 months.

The role is full time, to start ASAP and paying £800 Umbrella per day. The role is inside IR35.

The department offers hybrid and flexible working.

Ideally the client is looking for candidates who hold active SC or DV clearance, but will accept applications from candidates who are eligible for SC Clearance.

The Role

  • Providing IFRS 17 technical accounting advice and guidance and developing technical papers (where needed) in accordance with the Department's governance
  • Build and develop Excel spreadsheets to perform accounting and modelling calculations required to identify data gaps, validate systems outputs, and meet other Programme requirements.
  • Support transition execution approach and plan, covering the opening balances and comparative financial
  • Support with Audit engagement requirements and responding to
  • Support the implementation of the FRC-related IT solutions (including the General Ledger, IFRS 17 Calculation Engine and Sub-Ledgers), including any related processes and controls for end-to- end
  • Support the Finance Function in testing activity, including ensuring testing issues are resolved on a timely
  • Support the development and implementation of the Accounting Rules, Chart of Accounts, ledger posting and IFRS 17
  • Analyse the data inputs/outputs to/from the Calculation Engine and General Ledger, ensuring the outputs meet the reporting requirements, investigating any issues and recommending potential changes.
  • Work closely with all stakeholders, including the FRC Delivery Partner, Auditors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in ensuring that reporting solutions used across the Finance function are fit for purpose in the rollout of IFRS
  • Present or support presenters on financial reporting matters at training
  • As appropriate, maintain a robust control environment in accordance with good practice and Department's risk framework.
  • Provide administrative, logistical, and other support as required to the FRC
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required by the Project and FCD to ensure business readiness for IFRS 17 (e.g., GL data cleansing, resolving data issues, and supporting data migration).

Essential experience, skills & knowledge required:

  • Providing IFRS17 technical accounting advice and guidance
  • Practical IFRS17 implementation experience
  • Building and developing Excel models performing accounting and modelling calculations
  • Preparing Departmental Transition Accounts
  • Designing and supporting new processes, controls, and Working Day Timetables (WDT)
  • Designing, implementing, and testing the future state systems and solutions
  • Supporting the wider FRC Programme
