Handy Person

We are seeking a Handy Person to join our team, providing essential maintenance services at our Care Leavers sites across Sheffield. This role involves working closely with care-experienced young people, helping them transition smoothly into their own tenancies. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a new service model aimed at delivering holistic services to young people with high support needs.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Carry out routine repair and maintenance tasks across various sites.
- Perform minor repairs on buildings, furniture, and equipment to ensure all facilities are in good working order.
- Prepare flats for occupancy by young people coming from care, ensuring they are safe and welcoming.
- Support young people with household maintenance and decorating, helping them to settle into their new homes.
- Provide advice and support to young people regarding household maintenance, acting as a point of contact for any related queries.
- Work collaboratively with housing partners to ensure a seamless transition for young people into their accommodations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a handy person or maintenance role.
- Ability to perform a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks.
- Strong understanding of building maintenance and repair.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide support and advice to young people.
- A compassionate approach, with a commitment to supporting young people with complex needs.
- Flexibility to work across multiple sites within Sheffield.
