Senior Civil Design Engineer - Highways & Drainage

Location: Manchester/Lincoln/Peterborough (Hybrid OR home-office working)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (40 hrs/week)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Benefits (depending on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: ASAP

Purpose:

To deliver highway and drainage design for a wide variety of exciting projects across the built environment and major infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality highway and drainage design for various projects.
  • Prepare and negotiate Section 104, 106, 278, and 38 Agreements for adoptable infrastructure.
  • Design and detail foul and surface water drainage systems, including SUDS.
  • Develop drainage strategies and flood risk assessments.
  • Liaise with local authorities and other stakeholders to secure technical approvals and consents.
  • Utilize design software such as MicroDrainage and AutoCAD Civil 3D effectively.
  • Ensure designs comply with CDM Regulations and the responsibilities of a designer.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in civil engineering.
  • HND or degree-level qualification in Civil Engineering.
  • Ideally, Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) with membership in a relevant professional engineering institution.
  • Proficient in highway design.
  • Competent in drainage design and detailing.
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations.
  • Ability to use computer design software packages including MicroDrainage and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in adoptable infrastructure design and negotiating relevant agreements.
  • Sound knowledge in preparing drainage strategies and flood risk assessments.
  • Experience liaising with local authorities and stakeholders for technical approvals and consents.
