Who we are
Kene is a specialist innovation funding consultancy that believes in client service excellence delivered through a blend of talent and technology.
The government previously provided £7.6bn of support to the most innovative companies in the UK in the tax year 2021 to 2022 and announced plans to increase the support available to £39.8bn between 2022 and 2025. With this level of support available to companies, Kene wants to continue to facilitate supporting innovative companies year on year.
We see a future where every SME, regardless of size or resource, has the opportunity to innovate, grow, and make a meaningful impact on society. By breaking down complex barriers to government funding and providing expert guidance, we empower businesses to unlock their full potential, contributing to a vibrant economy driven by sustainable and purpose-driven growth. As a trusted ally, we're helping SMEs lead the way in shaping a better future for their industries and communities.
This is an ambitious goal and achieving it requires an equally ambitious team. As such we're looking for exceptional people excited by the prospect of building something that matters to join the team.
The role:
We're looking for a commercially-savvy and performance-driven Marketing Manager to join our growing London-based team.
In this pivotal role, you'll work alongside our Head of Marketing to lead and optimise our paid media and SEO strategy - and support wider campaigns across content, email, social, events and partnerships. You'll take ownership of key acquisition channels and play a hands-on role in driving growth, improving digital performance and building our in-house marketing capability.
We're after someone who gets excited by the numbers, but never loses sight of the creative. Someone who's comfortable in the detail, but always looking at the bigger picture.
If you're ready to shape a function, not just manage a workload - this is the opportunity for you.
Day-to-day you will be:
- Plan, manage and optimise paid media campaigns (Google, Microsoft, Meta) with a focus on performance and ROI
- Lead and evolve our SEO strategy - from keyword planning to content briefs and technical collaboration
- Monitor and report on marketing effectiveness using GA4, Looker Studio and other key tools
- Work with our Design Manager to deliver impactful digital and print assets
- Own and grow our social media strategy, ensuring consistency, relevance and engagement
- Manage our website (Webflow) - uploading content, refining UX and improving overall performance
- Run end-to-end email marketing campaigns, including segmentation, writing copy, building and analytics
- Support offline marketing - including events, partnerships and printed collateral
- Get stuck into strategic campaigns, new initiatives and exciting marketing experiments
You will have:
- 4-6 years' experience in a broad marketing role, with strong foundations in digital
- Proven ability to manage and optimise paid campaigns (PPC and paid social)
- Strong working knowledge of SEO best practices and relevant tools (e.g. SEMrush, Ahrefs, Google Search Console)
- Analytical mindset - confident interpreting performance data to guide decisions
- Excellent copywriting skills across multiple formats (ads, emails, web, social)
- Comfortable using marketing tech: CMS platforms (like Webflow/WordPress), email tools, CRM systems
- Experience briefing designers and/or working with external agencies
- Highly organised, proactive and able to juggle multiple projects with ease
- A collaborative approach and a willingness to roll your sleeves up (we're only a small team!)
Bonus points if you have:
- Hands-on experience with Webflow
- Light design skills using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with AI and automation tools in a marketing context
- B2B or consultancy experience
