Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Housing Adviser for our client local government organisation based in Bedford.
The successful candidate will give Housing Advice to the Afghan, Syrian & Ukrainian Refugee Households that approach the organisation for housing assistance, this will include attendance at a weekly housing drop-in session at the PBIC (Polish Community) centre in Bedford.
This is a 3 month starting contract with the possibility to extend.
Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Perform property Inspections for the HFU team confirming suitability of properties for Ukrainian guests.
- Be the first point of contact for for telephone calls, emails and general enquiries from Ukrainian, Afghan & Syrian customers and direct to relevant persons if required.
- Be the first point of contact for referrals from the SMP (Strategic Migration Partnership) for refugee families ensuring the provision of homes for Afghan & Syrian Refugees and that the homes are suitable, furnished and ready- to- let with appropriate support mechanisms are in place.
- Responsible for for recording and monitoring all income and expenditure of the Afghan & Syrian Schemes.
- Attend monthly & quarterly external meetings in regard to the refugees resettlement programme, keeping abreast of changes in this area.
- Attend weekly housing advice at the PBIC centre for Ukrainian households, completing Income & Expenditure forms and assisting with general housing queries.
- Liase with colleagues in HFU (Homes for Ukraine) Team, Children Services and external resettlement providers for customers requiring housing advice and assistance.
Personal Requirements:
- Educated to at least AS/A level or with good relevant experience with a good level of numeracy, literacy, report writing and IT skills.
- An ability to follow strict process and procedural frameworks and work in a transparent manner with integrity to process financial payments reliably and accurately.
- Previous experience in a relevant role.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners to obtain appropriate outcomes for refugee families.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a range of people who may have language or other communication barriers.
Working Hours: 09:00am - 17:00pm, Monday - Friday
Pay: £33.00 p/h
Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.
