IT Operations Manager

The role

The IT Operations Manager will oversee and manage the day-to-day IT operations of an organisation whose mantra is changing lives through learning.

The role will be unique, and the IT Operations Manager will be directly responsible for the IT estate. The primary responsibility will be the technical liaison between the organisation and its outsourced IT partner, with a shared commitment to oversee the operational processes that ensure the availability and reliability of systems and networks and to implement new technologies to improve efficiency and productivity across the IT network.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between the organisation and the outsourced IT partner, managing communications and service delivery.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Finance and IT and outsourced IT partner, develop, monitor and deliver an IT Infrastructure Strategy that underpins the strategic plan and Digital Transformation strategy.
  • With the Director of Finance and IT and outsourced IT partner, implement and manage cyber-security strategies and deliver regular training.
  • Oversee the IT estate, managing, enforcing and improving policies and procedures relating to asset security and tracking.
  • Plan and manage IT change and upgrade projects, collaborating with the outsourced IT partner and departmental managers to proactively understand and address IT needs.
  • Ensure there is adequate IT equipment, handle escalations and resolve issues promptly.
  • Manage the IT operational and capital expenditure budgets, with hands-on responsibility for procuring IT services, equipment and licences
  • Manage the provision and administration of peripheral equipment such as interactive screens, mobile phones and printers.
  • Take a leading role in implementing energy-efficient technologies and practices to reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Write reports for senior management.

Experience needed

  • Proven experience in IT operational management and IT relationship management.
  • Experience in the day-to-day management of a third-party vendor or an outsourced IT service provider.
  • Experience and understanding of cyber-security threats and strategies.
  • Sound technical experience in a Wintel infrastructure environment and Azure/365 administration
  • Experience and understanding of networking concepts (subnetting, vLAN, routing, WiFi).

Remuneration

  • Base salary of £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
  • Hybrid working 50% office and 50% home
