About the School

We are working with a highly regarded all-through SEN school in Enfield that provides specialised education for students with autism and associated needs. The school prides itself on its well-structured, nurturing environment designed to meet the unique needs of its students. With a dedicated and experienced leadership team, this is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious SENCO to join them as soon as possible.

The successful SENCO will play a key role in the school's leadership team, ensuring that children and young people remain at the heart of everything the school does. You will be responsible for the strategic development of SEND provision, ensuring the school complies with SEND policies and delivers high-quality support to every pupil. This is a fantastic chance to make a real difference in a school that is committed to inclusive education and pupil well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND provision across the school, ensuring that SEND policies are effectively implemented.
  • Coordinate and manage EHCP processes, from creation to annual reviews, ensuring that individual needs are met and regularly monitored.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team, teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide high-quality SEND support.
  • Ensure that all staff are well-trained in SEND practices, and offer ongoing professional development where needed.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils and parents, ensuring a collaborative approach to support each student's unique needs.
  • Promote an inclusive environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of all students with SEND.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience as a SENCO in a school setting, ideally working with children with ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) and other special educational needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of EHCP processes and experience managing annual reviews.
  • NASENCO qualification (desirable) or a commitment to working towards this certification.
  • Excellent organisational skills to ensure effective planning, monitoring, and ongoing review of SEND provision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and a commitment to helping young people achieve their potential.
