Purchasing Team Manager

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced purchasing professional to join a dynamic and growing arm of a nationally recognised business and support the Head of Purchasing with the running of the day-to-day operation of the Purchasing department.

This company specialising in supplying a wide range of products to both B2B and B2C customers.

They are now looking for someone with previous buying/purchasing experience along with team management experience to become the ‘right hand' to the Head of Purchasing and help with this growing team.

This position is based out of their distribution centre in Birmingham on the outskirts of city centre with parking available.

What's on offer?

Salary = Circa £40,000 per annum

23 days holiday + 8 bank holidays

Duties include:

  • Integrate & develop AX into the Purchasing Department
  • Train, coach & develop individuals to maximise their performance, development & productivity
  • Maintain and maximise departmental communication
  • Manage the department performance monitors and escalate issues
  • Manage the efficient running of the Purchasing Office
  • Manage the project milestones with key users to ensure clarity and on-time delivery
  • Identify problem areas and create processes to improve performance
  • Audit current processes, identify non-conformity and re-check compliance
  • Deliver a comprehensive range of products to meet the requirements of our customer
  • Look for improvements in current trading terms & cost prices to maximise contribution
  • Managing a team of individuals and being the go-to person in the office.
  • Maintaining office services by organizing office operations and procedures.
  • Providing administration support for Directors and Senior Management.
  • Developing, implement and reviewing of processes and procedures.
  • Recruiting new staff and providing training.
  • Ensuring health and safety policies are adhered to.
  • Being the first point of contact for all inquiries, queries, and complaints.
  • Fostering a good work environment, company culture and company ethos
  • Ensure the smooth running of the office on a day-to-day basis

The ideal candidate for this role:

  • Knowledge of Purchase & Supply Chain is desirable
  • Experience in a team management role is essential where you have had line manager duties
  • Previous experience of developing pricing strategies is desirable
  • You will have proven success of supplier relationship development
  • Ability to prioritise and complete simultaneous projects
  • Excellent maths and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other IT packages
  • Use of Microsoft AX is very desirable
  • Team player
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organised
  • Highly motivated and positive attitude
