Commercial Manager

Posted by Profectus Recruitment.

Profectus have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join a small but growing company that were recently acquired by a global software organization. The client specializes in cutting-edge software solutions designed to track and report visitor numbers and behaviour, primarily within the heritage sector. They are looking for a driven individual to take charge of the commercial function, focusing on growing client relationships and increasing revenue. Ideally, candidates will bring experience in the heritage sector, along with strong sales and account management skills, and a proven ability to manage P&L. While there is no team to manage initially, we anticipate growing the commercial department within the next year. Experience in software sales is advantageous but not essential if you have relevant experience in the heritage market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • P&L oversight: You will be responsible for managing the financial performance of the business, ensuring revenue targets are met and the company's financial health is sustained.
  • Client management: Work closely with both existing and new customers, building long-term relationships and ensuring the highest level of service.
  • Revenue growth: Focus on expanding opportunities with current clients, offering new products and services, and optimizing pricing strategies to maximize revenue potential.
  • New business development: While this role is not primarily focused on aggressive sales, you will identify new business opportunities, supported by a marketing team from the wider group.
  • Product development liaison: Engage with clients to understand their needs and work with the development team to enhance or adjust software solutions accordingly.
  • Hybrid working model: You'll be expected to work from the office near Reading two days a week.

Candidate Profile:

  • Heritage sector experience: You've either worked directly in the heritage sector or have experience working with clients in this area, or have a genuine interest in heritage and cultural institutions.
  • Sales and account management skills: You have a track record of managing client accounts and driving revenue growth, with a focus on relationship building rather than aggressive sales tactics.
  • P&L management: Demonstrated ability to manage profit and loss, forecast revenue, and assess business performance.
  • Versatile communication: Able to engage with clients at all levels, from operational staff to senior executives, and confident in managing price negotiations and submitting tenders.
  • Hybrid work flexibility: Must be based within commuting distance of Reading and available to work from the office two days a week.
  • Full driving license: Regular travel to client sites is expected.
