FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER

Position; Front of House Manager

Location; Oxford

Salary; £38,000 - £42,000 per annum

Planet Recruitment are proud to be working with our well-established client in central Oxford, who are seeking a new permanent Front of House Manager. This role is based on 37.5 hours a week but expected to be flexible due to big events.

Main Responsibilities;

  • Ensure that provision of services meet or exceed expectations of college members and conference delegates
  • Ensure service for each meal period to agreed standards of service while maintaining all food hygiene standards whist ensuring all dietary requirement and allergens are correctly implemented
  • Agree attendance with line manager at significant rostered events (within Hall, SCR, Bar and Cafe team), as required
  • Manage the Hall, SCR, Bar and Cafe team staff to provide efficient, cost-effective services including monitoring the presentation of staff, ensuring their correct uniform and approved standards of appearance
  • Keep updated on developments in services to meet the changing needs of college and its customers and make recommendations to the HoCS
  • Prepare rota and payroll, in consultation with the HoCS and Catering Administrator for all catering staff (including casual staff) ensuring compliance within pre-set budgetary limits
  • At least annually, formally appraise all catering staff and set their SMART objectives
  • Submit Returns for all internal function, dinner, wine in consultation with the HoCS and Catering Administrator
  • Submit accurate time sheets in consultation with Catering Administrator and records of hours worked by all staff and prepare staff wage sheets for weekly sign-off by the HoCS
  • Assist the HoCS to monitor catering sales and keep stock levels within appropriate parameters
  • Ensure that monthly stock audit in undertaken in Hall, SCR, Bar and Café
  • Oversee the ordering of stock in all areas of catering
  • Liaise with Supervisors for appropriate deployment of permanent and casual staff
  • Deputise for the HoCS in their absence
  • In the absence of the Catering Administrator, ensure EPOS, Accurate and Kx systems are updated daily
  • In consultation with HoCS, create, update and deliver Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Work closely with chefs on dietary information and delivery of these meals
  • Ensure staff comply with hygiene, food safety, manual handling and COSHH regulations and that appropriate temperature control monitoring is maintained, and records kept
  • As and when needed, onward report any maintenance issues

Required;

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene (Intermediate)
  • WSET wine qualification or similar, able to manage wine cellar and negotiate prices
  • Demonstrable leadership and motivational skills: capable of nurturing, developing and inspiring staff.
  • Prior managerial experience in a senior position in a hotel or similar establishment, e.g F&B Manager or Restaurant Manager within a 4* or 5* environment and can perform a variety of activities as needed across all F&B depts.
  • Experienced in managing relationships with guests and organisers.
  • Experience of managing and hosting large-scale weddings and social events.
  • Demonstrates understanding of critical issues and potential technology and trends in hotel F&B.
  • Computer literate, experience with spreadsheets and practical knowledge of databases
  • Has flair and a passion for excellence whilst being mindful of traditions.
  • Experience of catering for special requests and personal requests of clients.
  • Flexible - able to work hours demanded by the hospitality position.
