RAMP Support Officer

We are currently recruiting for an RAMP (Reasonable Adjustments Management Process)Support Officer to work for Thames Valley Police Force at the Headquarters in Kidlington

This role is 37 hours, Monday to Friday. 8.40am to 5pm, this will temporary until at least July 2025.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE BEEN RESIDING WITHIN THE UK FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS CONTINUOUSLY UP TO AND INCLUDING DATE OF APPLICATION

The overall purpose of the role is to: triage Reasonable Adjustments Management Process (RAMP) applications to determine the necessary next steps, providing advice to management and encouraging them to complete the process with the applicant, signposting them to TVP training packages or outside resources for the condition if appropriate. The role holder will need to identify applications which need to be referred to Workplace Needs (WPN) or Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessor and identify more complicated RAMP applications that need to be escalated to the RAMP Advisor, or to the RAMP Manager. The role holder will also support the wider team with the reduction in the backlog and input on the redesign of the processes within RAMP.

The key result areas in the role are as follows:

  1. Work with RAMP Administrator to identify and select cases from the backlog list.
  2. Systematically work through the backlog, locate each file and contact the individual and their line manager to request any missing documentation.
  3. Triage applications, deciding on the best course of action and if appropriate, provide advice to individuals and line managers to help them complete the process. If the individuals and line managers cannot complete the process, decide if the RAMP Advisor or the RAMP Manager need to review the case.
  4. Refer cases to workplace needs and/or DSE if required. Some cases will need input from various teams.
  5. When reasonable adjustments passports are submitted by line manager, proof read and request any changes from the management as needed. Submit to RAMP Manager for sign off.
  6. Attendance at weekly RAMP/DSE/WPN meetings, to network, brainstorm cases, and discuss new learning. Work with the RAMP Advisor in meetings to broaden knowledge.
  7. Support Workplace Needs (WPN) to launch QuickScan and QuickScreen for relevant cases as identified by WPN Assessor. Develop skills to conduct low level analysis of QuickScan and QuickScreen results and present to the WPN Assessor in an agreed format.
  8. Look at feedback to the online training tools, discuss improvements with the wider team and implement changes if possible.
  9. Conduct online searches with external providers to develop own skills and enhance the advice and solutions that can be provided.

Additional

  1. The role holder will need to search for relevant online support, both internal and external. They will identify the required needs and be able to signpost people to the appropriate resources for their circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to, RAMP created
  2. PowerPoints, charities and support groups for the specific conditions, and other resources.
  3. The post holder will need to refer to cases to other subject matter experts such as RAMP Advisor/Manager, DSE or WPN as required, ability to communicate effectively when handing over a case.
  4. Work with the WPN Manager to identify when to launch QuickScreen and Quickscan, chase individuals to ensure completion. Learn the system to help give some basic advice on how to complete. Develop skills to interrupt results to determine if escalation to an assessor is needed.

Skills & Experience

The role holder will need good communication skills and knowledge of general HR functions. This will aid with identifying cases that require more information, requesting the information and providing low level advice.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on handling sensitive situations with empathy and understanding. Possess the ability to explain, Ability to work with and liaise effectively with other teams and departments such as Employee Relations, Change and Innovation and Legal.

Understanding of the Equality Act, ideally the disability protected characteristic and reasonable adjustments.

The role holder will need good IT skills, specifically Outlook, Word documents, Excel and Teams.

CIPD level 3 or equivalent experience.

Experience in generalist HR environment.
