Logistics Assistant

Reed are working on behalf of a leading British manufacturer, seeking a Logistics Assistant to join their rapidly growing team. This role is integral to ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of health and safety and quality across the business.

This role is based in a rural location so access to your own car/vehicle is essential for commuting.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Liaising with internal and external customers to ensure all deliveries are completed in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
  • Conducting cost/budget research to ensure logistics suppliers meet budgetary constraints and ISO standards.
  • Collaborating with other managers and staff to provide training, tools, and techniques to achieve quality standards within logistics.
  • Regularly liaising with department heads regarding specific risks within logistics.
  • Ensuring that method statements and risk assessments are in place and reviewed appropriately.
  • Maintaining compliance with Logistics standards approved by ISO 9001.
  • Measuring performance and identifying areas of weakness, recommending and implementing improvements.
  • Keeping up to date with legislative requirements, codes of practice, and new safety literature.
  • Assisting with accident or incident investigations and ensuring effective reporting in accordance with policy procedures.
  • Working with procurement to establish quality requirements from external suppliers.
  • Reviewing customer requirements to ensure they are met.
  • Defining quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff.
  • Attending workshops, health and safety updates, and safety forums to assist in continuous improvement within Logistics.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all organisational levels.
  • Ability to work seamlessly as part of a team or independently as required.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a self-motivated approach.
  • Self-confidence and diligence with good attention to detail.
