We are seeking a Manufacturing Manager to effectively manage the manufacturing function of our clients business, ensuring on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in both the operation and management of sheet metal fabrication and finishing.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee production planning and ensure shop floor resources are available to meet customer delivery dates.
- Manage the training program for all shop floor employees, ensuring adequate availability of skills.
- Conduct annual employee appraisals and formulate plans for individual and collective improvement.
- Consult with Production Supervisors daily to allocate resources effectively and ensure on-time delivery.
- Handle shop floor recruitment, employee induction, and manage employee holiday/sickness records.
- Manage the Health & Safety activities of the business, ensuring full compliance.
- Demonstrate the use of machinery effectively for training purposes and to showcase manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with senior management to implement new plant processes and troubleshoot problems on the shop floor.
- Maintain and assess the production training matrix, ensuring a structured training schedule is adhered to.
- Oversee the purchasing of raw materials and the assessment and installation of new machinery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in managing sheet metal fabrication and finishing operations.
- Skilled engineer, draughtsman, and estimator.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage and develop a team.
- Proficient in CAD/Programming for the design of new products.
- Excellent organisational skills to handle administrative tasks and maintain electronic document filing.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and Saturdays as required.
