Student Casework Officer, University, Temporary role, £19 per hour, 4 months with a possible extension

Our client, a world-renowned university, is seeking a high organised and detail-oriented Student Case Officer. As part of the Vice Chancellor's office section, you will be responsible for managing the processes related to academic appeals, academic and student misconduct and complaints.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage academic appeals, misconduct, and complaints
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining University information
  • Requires careful judgement and adherence to procedures
  • Avoid legal risks for the University
  • Manage caseload of appeals, misconduct, complaints, and fitness to practise concerns
  • Follow University policies and procedures
  • Provide advice and information to students
  • Operate within University regulations and external requirements
  • Deliver outstanding, professional, efficient, and consistent service
  • Part of the Vice Chancellor's Office section
  • Handle significant and complex workload
  • Ensure consistent implementation of criteria
  • Support students, staff, academics, and external stakeholders
  • Maintain confidentiality and data protection
  • Uphold the University's reputation
  • Promote fairness and transparency
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations and requirements
  • Mitigate risks and maintain compliance

Desired skills and attributes

  • Experience in managing and delivering administrative processes to deadlines
  • Preferably Higher Education sector experience with Casework
  • Knowledge of Governance, Compliance, Policy and applying standards to strict criteria
  • Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability
  • Experience of managing own workload and using own initiative
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, or relevant experience
  • Relevant IT skills
  • Relevant administrative skills
  • Experience in casework and student/client support work in higher education or related organisation
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and quasi-legal terminology
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining accurate case note and files
  • Collaborative work, valuing the contribution of others and sharing knowledge
