Head of Learning and Development

I am currently supporting a client, based on the Fylde Coast in their search for a Head of Learning and Development. This is a brand new role in a successful business. Reporting into the People Director you will be accountable for the development, planning and delivery of a variety of learning initiatives, with the purpose of ensuring employees are suitably qualified, competent and skilled to undertake their roles.

Leading a small, high-performing team you will take a lead on the following:

  • Supporting engagement and retention through ensuring there are career pathways in place across the business
  • Working to identify high-performing talent and working with these individuals to further develop
  • Building effective working relationships with key stakeholders, working to continually evaluate learning needs
  • Working with the People Director on the implementation of a learning strategy
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement across all learning initiatives
  • Ensuring learning initiatives are fit for purpose
  • Building robust methods for reporting and evaluating on learning interventions
  • Overseeing leadership development activity
  • Designing and implementing an effective induction and on-boarding programme for new starters
  • Identifying opportunities to use the apprenticeship levy
  • Collaborating with third party training providers
  • Leading an internal communications programme with the aim of ensuring widespread awareness of L and D activity
