About the role

Base Location: Inverness

Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

  • Responsible for helping to ensure supporting managers address business risk by promoting a practical understanding across all operational safety processes.
  • Responsible for the continual improvement of the approved procedures and guidance associated with the Transmission Operational Safety Rules to ensure safety from the system when accessing, operating and maintaining the SSEN Transmission network. This includes the provision of information, instruction and training and active/ reactive monitoring of operational safety performance including the sharing of lessons learnt from incident investigations.
  • Requires strong internal and external stakeholder management skills to drive cross business collaboration in order to build a high performing, commercially and customer focused culture through the effective delivery of safe, reliable and affordable outcomes.
  • The role requires a significant amount of travel for customer and stakeholder engagement, operational site visits and attendance at company and industry meetings.
  • Required to contribute to an inclusive, effective and safe working environment by taking responsibility for your decisions and behaviours, and the consequences of these.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with continuing professional development or appropriate proven knowledge and experience.
  • Experience as a Senior Authorised Person and in drafting clear, unambiguous technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment techniques including demonstrable experience of the application of ALARP risk assessment in relation to network operations paired with knowledge of transmission and/ or distribution network design, construction and operational solutions.
  • Multi-skilled at providing advice, support and guidance across all aspects of operational safety to ensure SSEN operational staff are best placed to manage operational safety risk.
  • Trained and experienced in incident investigation.
