Senior Technical Buyer

This permanent role is within a dynamic engineering environment, necessitating adaptability, initiative, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Our client specialises in the design and development of automotive manufacturing and is entering an exciting era of innovation and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate Purchase Orders, expedite and progress deliveries from suppliers, and maintain timely reporting of the delivery status of outstanding parts, routinely feeding back the status to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage a portfolio of suppliers focusing on both tactical and strategic development.
  • Optimise total value delivered to the race team, ensuring everything is on time and meets the required quality standards.
  • Support and motivate the procurement team to achieve departmental performance measures.
  • Support and develop continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers that provide the best value to the business.
  • Rationalise and develop the supplier base to ensure it offers the best value.
  • Provide procurement leadership to internal stakeholders using appropriate experience and influencing skills.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in procurement, supported by a CIPS qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Proven procurement experience within a fast-changing engineering environment.
  • Ability to establish strong relationships internally and externally at all levels of business.
  • Ability to react quickly and prioritise immediate operational requirements.
  • Good problem-solving and team-working skills, with the ability to work under own initiative.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Good team player with an approachable professional manner.
  • Flexible approach to working hours in line with fluctuating work requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence.
